Why does Canada unlike Australia have a two tiered high schooling system?
environment canada issues : I hear in Alberta, Canada they have a system that goes like this:
Grades K-6 is Elementary
Grades 7-9 is Junior High
Grades 10-12 is Senior High
In my State QLD and also (SA, NT, WA) the system goes like this:
Years Preschool/Prep/Reception – year 7 is Junior/Primary School
Years 8 – 12 is Secondary/High School
In the ACT, NSW, VIC and TAS the system goes like this:
Years Kindergarten/Preschool/Prep – Year 6 is Junior/Primary School
Years 7 – 12 is Secondary/High school
My thought is why on earth separating Juniors and Seniors in the secondary school phase of life? what’s the point? once you reach year 7/8 in Australia, its considered high school, wouldn’t it make it easier to stay at the same high school for 5/6 years and not change in between? what is the story for changing? more transitions to junior to senior and harder I guess because you wont be in a similar environment? please tell me why?
