What’s wrong with socializing higher education in the USA?
higher education issues : I know people are concerned with anything socialist, but isn’t education a necessary aspect of society? One that provides more opportunities for everyone?I don’t think the democratic party acted logically in increasing federal loans, because universities just increased the price of tuition. I don’t think all things should be socalized, but education is just one of those things we should all support, as well as benefit from. Higher education would break a major contributer to the cycle of poverty, as it would allow the poor to have more job opportunities. It would benefit just about every part of society

Do you mean pay for everyone to go to college, like some other countries do? It would be great, but the fact is most colleges are non-profit – they’re not pocketing the money from tuition, they’re charging the minimum they need to run the school. If we make college free by using tax money to cover all the costs of colleges, we can’t keep letting everyone go to college. Right now, as long as they’re willing to pay for it, pretty much anyone can go. But that’s not the case in Europe – it’s usually decided by age 13 if you’re going to college or not. Few people go to college, and that’s how many they can pay for.
I’d love to see more education funding both at the K-12 level at at the college level. But start paying for everyone to go and no longer will everyone be able to go.
