board of education issues : I am writing a research paper on Brown vs the board of education , but I can’t seem to form a good research question. Can somebody help me please ( 10 points for the best question). Please and thank u. Also if it possible for you to give me an outline. Not detailed, just sections I can talk about. For example background information, where are they now, etc.

The most interesting aspect of Brown v. Board is how this landmark case acted as a catalyst for the burgeoning civil rights movement of the 1960s. Not sure if this is your history class or what, but whenever you’re researching a historical event for a paper, you should focus on what makes the event significant. You could write hundreds of pages on the details of the case – the origin (Plessy v. Ferguson), the ruling itself, the case law, etc. What really matters is how Brown v. Board changed the American political and social landscape. Brown v. Board led to forcible desegregation, which was an incredibly controversial move in the South. De-seg was a hot topic for decades afterward. The ‘separate but equal’ doctrine’ was responsible for the violence, racism, and intimidation occurring in the South. Brown v. Board was the federal government‘s first important move in repairing some of the damage caused by the failure of Reconstruction after the Civil War. Keep in mind that the federal government essentially ignored the plight of African Americans in the South from 1876 until Brown v. Board.
