higher education issues : what do you think is the value of todays higher education… with internet degrees and that sometimes being worth the same as a degree obatined at a traditional university…is education of any value now that the world of education has fallen victim of our capitalist market economy?

I really doubt that an internet degree would come close to a legitimate school degree (though it’s better than nothing). Employers don’t look at the two the same. Education will never loose its value.

First of all, internet degrees are really questionable and any employer of any worth is going to doubt their worth. Seriously, I could probably get a Juris Doctor (lawyer) degree from some internet site, but I would have to pass the State bar exam to become an attorney. An awful lot depends on the actual school attended and their reputation. A dgree from a State college means a heck of a lot more than one from ITT or the University of Phoenix (I believe it is).

Studies show that overall, college grads do earn more money than those who do not have a degree. And as I said, one really must consider where and how the degree came to be given. There is really no substitute for the brick and mortar college campus, at least not I were hiring for something other than a custodian or basic maintenance worker…I think you get the idea I am trying to give.
