Ask: Has anyone used personal giftcards to stay within their budget? Would this work?

Personal budget issues : I have been making a concerded effort for the last 6 months set up a personal budget and start saving.

I do well in most things, but I lost track when I get busy in life or work and that is when I go over budget.

I am a divorced dad who has his kids every Friday-Monday morning.

I have my budget set for for dining out and 0 for groceries.

I was thinking picking up two visa giftcards at my bank, commerce, and using those for these two trouble areas in my budget.

That way, If I go past a certain amount, I will be kinda forced to stop.

What do yo think?
I checked and I can get them free.

My sister has done that. she’s gotten giftcards for Walmart. she loved it!! plus, if she was out of cash, she could use her giftcard if she needed things.
i say go for it!
