discovery education issues : Why is it that Americans keep beating around the bush when it comes to solving the public education “crisis”? Why doesn’t America just do it the way Europeans do (or East Asians)? They spend less per child per year on education than Americans yet they have much higher standards. Do Americans just have lower IQs than Europeans? Were the settlers who arrived in the New World actually kicked out of Europe because they were considerably dumber than the general population? Is the filthy Hollywood culture of America really an excuse (Europe isn’t so “moral” either)? Most major discoveries in the US were made by Europeans and Asians.

The EU’s GDP is also higher than America’s, and per capita incomes only lower because there are 490 mil people here as opposed to 300 mil in the US. The size of the EU is less than half the size of the US.

Guess what genius, most Americans are descendant from Europeans and Asians.

You got your reasoning backwards. With greater than 50% more people, it is natural that the EU’s GDP be greater than the US’s. The per capita income is per person so the population of each “country” is irrelevent.

They take a much better approach to education and life. After having lived with a European family and in Europe for a year, I can tell even the people without that much money are happier than most American’s with money.

Education is approached as an experience that educates the whole person for the future, not just to pass some test and enter the workforce. They encourage students to take a year off after high school to travel, serve in the military, or perform civil service. College is also free or largely subsidized, allowing people from all aspects of life the ability to get ahead.
